Uniglass Southern Regional Sales Manager George Stirling is to retire after 45 years within the Glass Industry. Having joined Pilkington at the age of 19 and worked his way through to Sales Management, he has subsequently succeeded in a variety of senior roles at both major manufacturers and processors before joining Uniglass.
Stirling commented ‘The Glass trade has been a great place to work, and the fantastic quality of training at Pilkington made for an exceptional grounding for a lifelong career. Every role I have undertaken has enabled me to forge friendships and partnerships, many of which are still intact after 45 years. Spending the last two years at Uniglass has been a great finale, delivering significant growth for the company leaves it in a position to further capitalise on its successes and enables me to go out at the top of my career’.
George will be succeeded by Tony Brentnall, former Regional Manager for Guardian. Tony joins the company with an expansive CV, including roles as General Manager for Norman and Underwood and Divisional Manager for the Litchfield Group. At the recent conclusion of his 13 years at Guardian Tony was responsible for all UK sales of float, coated and laminated glasses.
Brentnall commented ‘I am very keen to bring my expertise and experience to combine with the skills of the team at Uniglass. I believe the company has a lot to offer, it is continuing to innovate within its marketplace as well as exploring new markets. I hope to utilise the skills and contacts I have acquired during my previous roles to enhance and support the Uniglass strategy for growth’.
Uniglass Managing Director David Stoker said “We are naturally sad to see George leave and it has been great to work with him over the last two years. However, we look forward to welcoming Tony to the team and have no doubt that his experience in the glass industry will assist him in providing enhanced customer service and creating strong business relationships. I am sure he will be a very successful member of our company.”
